The famous Indianapolis car racing "Indy 500" is held annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race consists of 200 laps, run counter-clockwise around a 2.5 miles oval circuit, for a distance of 500 miles [805 km]. The event is held over Memorial Day weekend, which is typically the last weekend in May.
