Each stamp in top or bottom row has a tab with blue inscription
enumerating various jobs in postal service.
Emerald inscription on back of the stamps printed beneath gum in water-soluble ink.
Statements, differing for each of the ten stamps, about some aspects of postal service.
For the first time in US postal history the stamps have printed matter on the reverse side under the adhesive. The stamps were first printed on ungummed paper by the gravure process on the Andreotti press. Then the printed paper rolls were transferred to the Cottrell press where the adhesive was applied.
